Temecula Trash Service includes weekly trash and recycling collection for residential homes. This also includes bulky waste pickup for items that will not fit in your cart.
The Town has a three-cart program (garbage, recycling, and compost), with a rate based on your chosen garbage cart size. Residents can now co-collect food scraps and yard trimmings with their trash, using the same brown cart, through a process called “co-collection.” Food-soiled paper and pizza boxes are permitted.
Most households follow a once-a-week trash collection schedule. Enter your address below to find out more about your specific collection day.
Trash is collected on all holidays except New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. If your regular collection day falls on one of those days, your collection will move to the next weekday. If you live in a neighborhood with an alley, your collection may take place on either Monday or Tuesday.
All single-family homes receive a gray garbage cart (or “Supercan”) for trash. Residents with a curbside driveway can place their cart out for collection no sooner than 6 am on their scheduled collection day and no later than 9 pm the night before. Carts should be removed from the curbside no later than 7 am on the day after collection.
Each household also receives a blue recycling cart. Please note that yard waste and large items (such as furniture, mattresses and box springs) are not collected in the recycling cart. These types of items are considered bulky waste and must be placed out with your trash for pick up.
To report a service-related issue, use our online service request system. Please provide your name, address and phone number, the nature of the issue, the date it occurred, and a description of what you need to have done. The online system will notify you once your request has been addressed.
In the winter, scheduled garbage and recycling pickups may be postponed due to snow and ice accumulation. Residents are encouraged to leave their empty cart(s) at the curb on their designated collection day until emptied, but they must be visible and clear of parked cars, poles, mailboxes and other obstructions.
Residents who live in neighborhoods with alleys and narrow streets may experience additional delays due to the DPW’s need to travel over these areas to complete their routes.
If you have questions about the trash or recycling schedule, please contact our Customer Service Center at 484-856-CITY (2489). Thank you for your help and cooperation!
Recycling
The Town collects trash and recycling from residents on a weekly basis. Recycling is collected on Wednesdays, year-round (except observed city holidays). The Town offers a single bin for trash and a blue 96-gallon cart for recyclables. Residents are encouraged to recycle as much as possible. Recycling helps reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, which also helps protect our waterways. Please do not place Styrofoam, plastic bags or tin foil in the recycling bins. These items contaminate the recycling load and can damage or jam the machinery used to empty the bins.
Residents who have a large quantity of items that cannot fit into their trash and recycling carts should contact the Town to rent an extra trash or recycling cart for a small fee. Items that can not fit into the carts are considered bulky waste and include furniture, appliances, mattress and box springs, brush and yard debris, and oversized items such as tree limbs or old cars. Bulky waste is collected on the second Monday of each month.
Streamlined Waste Management
Residents consistently express satisfaction with Trash Butler’s reliable service. They value the convenience and ease of managing their own trash, which frees up time to enjoy the community amenities that they love. Trash Butler’s recycling options also align well with modern green initiatives and appeal to eco-conscious residents.
Cleaner Common Areas
Prompt trash removal minimizes overflowing dumpsters and spilled trash, which create an unsightly appearance and attract pests. It also contributes to a cleaner, more pleasant living experience in shared spaces like courtyards, pools and walkways.
Better First Impressions
When trash and recycling services are inconsistent, it can make an apartment community look careless and unkempt. When residents have consistent, quality doorstep collection, they can focus on enjoying the community and fostering positive impressions.
Trash Butler’s trash and recycling services can be included in a resident’s rent or amenity fees, depending on property management policy. This integrated approach streamlines amenity management, improves tenant experiences, and ensures compliance with sustainability standards. This increases the overall value of the amenity, which in turn can lead to higher lease renewals and satisfaction scores in resident surveys.
Large Item Pickup
Each single-family household is allowed to set out ONE bulk item and/or two kitchen-size trash bags each week along with their regular trash collection. These items should be placed curbside no sooner than 7:00pm on the day prior to their scheduled trash pickup and no later than 7:00am on the day of regular trash service. Items that are too large to fit in a trash cart are called “bulky waste.” Examples of bulky waste include furniture, mattress and box springs, appliances, brush and yard waste, extra plastic trash bags and extra containers. Bulk trash is collected on a quarterly schedule during the weeks of January, April, July and October.
Residents who wish to dispose of bulk trash items outside of their scheduled, quarterly collection should use the Online Request Form to arrange a special pickup for a fee. Bulk trash collection varies by township; refer to your specific township’s website for details. Residents can also bring bulk trash items to the Public Works facility for a fee on a regular basis.
The Township is dedicated to addressing service-related issues promptly. Please make sure to provide the following information when reporting a problem: name, address, phone number, date the issue occurred and a description of the problem. The information you provide will allow staff to quickly and effectively resolve the issue. A dedicated phone line and email is also available for reporting trash, recycling or yard waste issues. This allows staff to monitor these problems and respond to residents within 24 hours. The number and email are listed on the Trash Service page of ReDirectory.
